Conditions of Use
Images from the Erik Schmidt Image Archive may be reproduced free of charge for non-commercial purposes, provided that proper attribution is given and the original context of the material is respected.
All reproductions must preserve the integrity of the original image. The material must be presented exactly as-is; no alterations of any kind — including cropping, color adjustments, colorization, adding or overlaying text (such as captions, watermarks, or logos), overprinting, AI-based upscaling, background removal, or the addition of graphical elements — are permitted without prior written consent. This ensures that the historical and documentary value of the material is fully preserved.
For any form of commercial publication, public exhibition, large-scale reproduction, or distribution beyond personal or educational use, prior written permission must be obtained from the archive.
